Lewis & Clark State College (2023)
Austin Ronquillo
With the moderate amount of scholarships that I applied for, this was the largest scholarship I had been awarded locally. Considering college tuition is quite expensive, I am extremely happy to have been selected as it means that I can pay off a good chunk of the how much I owe to Lewis-Clark State College, the school I will be residing in for the next four years. My main goal is to try for a Bachelor's degree for nursing, however, if that doesn't work out, I plan to still pursue a career in the medical field. In the event that my nursing career is successful, I plan to become a traveling nurse so that my abilities aren't just restricted to one hospital.

Thank you so much for awarding me your scholarship! I am very honored to receive this award. I will head to Gordon College in early August and I am registered for several major-specific courses that will set me on the path to becoming a speech-language pathologist. Your organization's scholarship is making my next step possible! As a student from rural Alaska, I am grateful that there is a scholarship that was established for students like me who are from a small town and are interested in healthcare. Thank you for all that you do for students in Ketchikan!
Brown University (2022)
Lauren Olson
I plan on attending Brown University to study medicine on a pre-med path, and I am so excited to begin my medical journey. My hope and dream is to become a doctor in the future, and with these funds to help me along the way, I'm sure to excel. Of course, just getting my doctorate isn't the end goal. I hope to one day return to a community like ours to help patients receive top-notch healthcare. I would again like to thank you for giving me this opportunity.
Dartmouth College (2022)

Growing up in Ketchikan has taught me the importance of community service, relationships, and environmental health. Revillagigedo Island will always have a place in my heart, as it is also a direct reflection of who I am. I will carry on the community values I’ve learned these past 17
years to Hanover, New Hampshire, to close friends, and my career in the healthcare industry. Like the island of Ketchikan, I will be a small piece of a much larger area. Whether it be at Dartmouth College, or in my first internship, I will be just a small part of the puzzle that is psychological research and neuroscience. This frightens me. I’ve never been a part of something so vast. I will be a number on a spreadsheet once I hit the healthcare industry, but I will always
treasure your committee’s recognition of my personal and academic achievements as more than just numbers on a page. Now, with your scholarship, I will be able to pursue a degree I’ve dreamt of for years, and divulge into research that has intrigued me ever since I was little. And while I will be swimming in a sea of those with similar interests, competitive drive, and desires, I will be the only student chosen to represent your program’s mission. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to carry on your legacy, and giving me the chance to
create my own.

I was thrilled to learn that I’m one of the recipients for the Rural Health Scholarship. I am writing to express my gratitude for your generous $4000 scholarship. I will be going to U Dub this fall under their pre-med track majoring in Medical Laboratory. Upon graduating University of Washington, I will attend medical school to earn an MD degree and pursue a career in surgery. As an out-of-state student at U Dub, financial assistance is my second priority next to education, by awarding me the Rural Health Scholar Pipeline scholarship you have lightened my financial burden which will allow me to focus more on my education.
Brigham Young University (2021)
Lauren Scarzella
I am extremely honored to have been selected for the Rural Health Scholarship and I cannot thank you enough for your support in my scholastic, professional, and career goals. I recently graduated from Ketchikan High School and I am going to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah Fall of 2021. This scholarship relieves me from the financial concerns of attending college and allows me to concentrate all my energy on learning. Additionally, it provides me with the assistance I need to earn a bachelor's degree and focus more of my time on studying. Obtaining a four-year degree has been a lifelong goal of mine and this scholarship takes me one step closer to that goal. I promise to work very hard in school and all of my academics. Again, I want to thank you for your support and note that your generosity has inspired me to give back to my community.
